Finding Reasonable Solutions to Family Law and Divorce Concerns
The lawyer you choose for your divorce or family law matter can have a significant impact on your experience of the legal process, the tone of your divorce and, of course, the outcome of your case.
At Gormley and Johnson Law Offices, PLC, our attorneys strive to help clients find agreeable solutions in the process of divorce and to maintain or develop a positive working relationship with their ex-spouse. After all, adding anger to an already stressful situation rarely leads to better resolutions and, if you share children, you will need to work together for many years to come.
Our calm, reassuring, and reasonable approach helps clients focus on reaching their goals in divorce, property settlement, child custody, alimony and pre-marital property issues, and child support agreements.
We handle more than divorce. The Michigan family law attorneys at Gormley and Johnson provide comprehensive legal services to meet many of the needs a family will encounter, including:
- Premarital agreements
- Marital property division, including IRA's, 401(k) accounts, pension plans, and other retirement accounts
- Establishing paternity and child support orders
- Step-parent and family adoption
- Guardianship and custodianship for children, elders, and disabled family members
- Personal protection orders to ensure the safety of people who are experiencing domestic violence
- Representation in abuse and neglect cases
- Estate planning and succession planning
Divorce and Child Custody
When possible and appropriate, we encourage our clients to participate in mediation to begin the process of reaching agreement in property division and child custody. We support our clients through that process. If an agreement cannot be reached, the process of mediation has often still allowed the clients to have a greater understanding of the issues and their own goals.
When it is necessary to take your divorce or child custody case to court, we are experienced legal advocates who know when to take a strategic approach. You may or may not get everything you want in an initial court order. By carefully structuring your agreement we can often put you in a better position if you need to go back to court later
Our knowledge of real estate, finance, and business law benefits clients with more complex marital assets, as well as clients who believe that a spouse is not being honest about his or her income from self-employment. We work hard to get the property division agreements our clients deserve.
