Chapter 7

Individuals and families considering Chapter 7 bankruptcy must pass a Means Test. This is a formula where income and expenses are used to determine if you qualify for filing Chapter 7. Many people often refer to Chapter 7 as the "fresh start" bankruptcy, as you are able to regain control of your finances and start over once your debt has been discharged.  Our attorney fees for a Chapter 7 filing start at just $1500.

bankruptcy Chapter 13

If you do not pass the Means Test, it doesn't mean that you can't file for bankruptcy protection. You may still qualify for Chapter 13 bankruptcy. This type of bankruptcy uses a debt repayment plan, allowing you to repay some of your debts over time without the constant harassment from your creditors. A Chapter 13 may also allow you to catch up on your arrears and prevent your mortgage from being foreclosed.  Attorney fees for a Chapter 13 filing start at $2500.

Bankruptcy-Related Matters

In addition to handling Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcies for individuals in Fowlerville and throughout the surrounding communities, our firm handles a number of issues that are closely related to bankruptcy, or accompany a bankruptcy filing, such as:

  • Stopping creditor harassment
  • Wage garnishment
  • Foreclosure
  • Repossession
